From Ezra Stevens' "Early History of the Town of Milford", 1773-1903 "Jonathan Sweet was born in Rhode Island, as also was his wife, Mary Brimer Jones. His children were as follows: Amos, Abel, Sibyl, Nancy, Freeborn, Jeremiah, Margaret Mary and Rosanna. All came to Milford about 1800. Amos, the eldest, married Patients Eldred, daughter of Thomas Eldred who also came from Rhode Island. Children of Amos and Patients were Stephen, Hiram, Amos Jr., Mary, George W., Albert, Nancy, Eliza, John, Caroline, Sibyl, James and Jane." "Amos Sweet, Sr., purchased the farm on the road to Edson Corners, sold to William Kirby, then bought the Colonel John Moore farm now owned and occupied by his grandson, Dorr Sweet. Mr. Sweet died on the same farm."
